About the Wildcat Fire

The Wildcat Fire was a 14,402-acre human-caused wildfire in Maricopa County, Arizona, burning in the Tonto National Forest near Bartlett Lake. It started near Vista Verde north of Dynamite Boulevard on the morning of May 18, 2024 and reached containment on June 3, 2024.

The fire forced area closures around Bartlett Lake recreation sites and required hundreds of firefighters at peak deployment. By size, it was the second-largest wildfire of the 2024 Arizona fire season.
